It all started in a little building on Lee Street in 1927. What started as a letter shop in downtown Montgomery, Alabama changed locations and gained new owners by 1945. Two brothers, Spurgeon and Robert Akers, and then Spurgeon’s son Bob Akers, built on the printing business as they built a solid reputation in the community.
In the 1990s, Emile Vaughan joined the partnership. Now he and his son, Mitchell, are continuing the legacy of the same honor-your-word business style—while growing Davis Direct to serve modern marketers.
